From Logitech Circle View to Scrypted with Poe cameras .. GAME CHANGER

Cupertino, December 31, 2023

Hi all, thought I'd post this as I hope it helps anyone with the same problems as me. I previously had 3 Logitech circle view cameras and a Logitech doorbell. I had a mesh network with good wifi signal throughout the house. Even so, I've had nothing but offline issues, lack of confidence, and constantly getting angry. I was very close to leaving the homekit ecosystem (this is someone who has multiple HomePods, thermostats, Apple TV macs, etc) because the camera issues didn't make sense to me and it was the one thing that bothered me more than anything More specifically , because they were the only homekit rooms on the market, I moved in last year and renovated it. As part of this I wired Ethernet to new camera locations including the doorbell. I've decided I'm going to use my cameras with the nvr and ditched any kind of homekit integration. I have 6 hikvision cameras and the reolink poe doorbell. The cameras work perfectly with the nvr so I decided to install scrypted on the same laptop the nvr runs on. I have to say I'm blown away by how good scrypted is. I have had this constantly since the beginning of November and the cameras have not disconnected once!! This makes me feel like Apple is crazy for not offering poe integration. Why should I install a third party server for this. Anyway, for anyone who is deep in the Apple ecosystem and doesn't want a camera solution, I'd suggest skipping Logitech and getting Poe cameras if possible and using scrypted. It's the solution Apple should provide, but doesn't
