FYI, iDevice's dimmer has no slider for damping

Cupertino, July 16, 2019

I got my iDevices dimmer switch today. It works and it's good to have control over the brightness of the lights. What struck me so strange, however, is that the damping is not achieved through a button, slider, capacitive strip or the like. Instead, hold down the power button to increase the brightness, and the power button to reduce it.

I'm used to having a room for a dimmer. By this or the increase from the lowest, the light is bright and can remain that way. It's strange to me not to have a physical reference and to lack fine control. If you press a button to adjust the brightness only, the light turns on or off. The other thing is that the default on / off is delayed as the switch must wait to see if the user keeps holding the button inside.

None of these are deal-breakers and I'm happy with the switch in general. After all, I control the brightness with Siri most of the time. I would just post this if someone gets it to expect a more standard check.
