Grouped Philips Hue bulbs that light up in different brightness / colors

Cupertino, January 21, 2022

I finally came to ask why I'm slowly going mad trying to find out what's going on here. Last September, I was one of the victims of the Philips Hue Bridge upgrade, which caused me to install HomeKit. Okay, whatever, I got to work and arranged everything again. Everything worked fine, except for the two LED strips in my kitchen. They are grouped together in HomeKit and we connected them to an automation. Strangely, every time they light up, the one on the right would be the correct color (adaptive lighting) and the one on the left would be warm white. Then, after 5-15 seconds, it would correct itself. It's not a big deal, is it? But then it got worse. Sometimes only the right band would light up, and the left one would be "on" at "0%" or "1%" brightness according to HomeKit. I should ask Siri to increase the brightness especially so that it lights up properly. But then it started to spread. In December, my two hallway lights, which are also paired, began to do the same thing. Then my two-bedroom lamps, then the ones in the hallway. I am now at a point where almost all the grouped lights in my house are misbehaving, being "on" at 0% or turning on the wrong color. So I'm here to ask for help. I tried the usual steps, restarting the hub, restarting the router. Hell, I even replaced the mesh setup with the Apple-recommended Linksys Velop system that I sell if it made a difference, but ... no. Even the Hue app tells me they're "on" when they're not. So who's to blame here? Is it interference? Is Hue Bridge hardware or software awkward? I guess no one knows, but I had to come and share if someone else has the same problem and has a solution.
