[Help] Siri won't turn on the lights after I get home

Cupertino, January 11, 2024

I have a smart switch installed in my house that manages two lights in one room. I have them grouped so that when I turn them on with my phone they both light up. I have a HomePod in the same room with lights that can be controlled by the smart switch. Using "siri turn off lights" turns off lights and vice versa. However, every time I leave and come back into the house, Siri will never turn on the lights when I ask her to and she keeps saying "your lights can't do that". Both on HomePod and iPhone. Why? I have to manually open my iPhone, turn the switch on and then off, then ask Siri on either the iPhone or HomePod "siri turn on the lights" and it works after that. How do I fix this? HomePod is connected to my home wifi 24/7. Should it be able to communicate with the smart switch at all times? I can even control the lights when I'm away from home from the Home app on my iPhone, so why is it so hard for Siri to turn on the lights when I ask her to when I get home? Step by step my problem:

[I am at the house]

*Siri, turn on the lights.* Siri turns on the lights without any problem. *Siri, turn off the lights.* Siri turns off the lights with no problem.

[I leave home for work]

[I come back home from work]

*Siri, turn on the lights.* Siri (from HomePod) says "Your lights can't do that."

[I proceed to ask Siri again using my iPhone.]

*Siri, turn on the lights.* Siri (iPhone) says "Your lights can't do that."

[I open Home app on my iPhone or go to control center and manually turn on the lights, then turns it off.]

I ask HomePod: *Siri, turn on the lights.* **Siri turns on the lights with no problem.**

[WHY????????]

Someone please help me.
