Background: I installed the Logitech Circle bell with my ringer and the manufacturer's quality transformer (10VA) and it seemed ok, but it would lose intermittent current. I changed the transformer with a 24 Volt / 20VA transformer, and the Circle ringer worked great, but there was too much juice for the bell, so the spring hammers were constantly moving and occasionally hitting the tone bars. Also, the noise of the transformer drove me crazy ... so I eliminated everything. I then installed a NICOR Lighting PRCP2 PrimeChime Plus Door Chime Kit (you can search on Amazon, but I don't want to link to it). It is an electronic sound with a built-in transformer designed for video ringtones. It's nice and small and works mostly ok, but now my problem is the bell rings when it's pressed and occasionally rings at random hours (usually in the middle of the night). Anyone know what the last problem might be? Could the measuring wire being too small (and the low temperatures at night) cause a sufficient voltage drop to trigger the sound of the bell? What should be my next move? TL; DR I bought a bell designed for video ringtones and it seems to ring alone at night and "stutter" when I make a normal sound. Any help or clues is much appreciated!
