Help with Meross 3-way Dimmer -- Have I damaged it?

Cupertino, September 19, 2023

I just replaced everything in a 4 gang box with smart switches. One of the replacements was a 3-way dimmer with an on-off switch on the other side of the room. When I installed these I had originally wired the variator so that it was upside down - when I initially tried to put everything back in the box I couldn't get it to fit and the wires were quite twisted so I pulled all 4 out back, undid the dimmer wires, untangled them, reattached and pushed back into the box. I'm sure I got the wiring right, especially the hot and neutral, there's no doubt about it. However, all switches except the dimmer are on. Now I have NOT connected the 2nd dimmer on the other side yet, it is still connected to a physical switch. Does anyone know, do BOTH dimmers have to be plugged in for either one to turn on, or should the main dimmer turn on when I flip the switch? I'm afraid I overstressed the wires and damaged them on my original install. Thank you in advance.
