HK Garage garage door, but do you already have MyQ built-in?

Cupertino, July 7, 2021

Hi everyone, along with my personal goals with my smarthome is for it to be platform agnostic. Over the years, I have set out to capture devices and hubs that play well with others (aka Amazon Alexa, Smartthings upport, and Google Assistant). I accomplished this quite a bit and everything was great, until the last changes in HomeKit. As a long-time Apple user and ultimately the increased adoption of HomeKit-supported devices and platform, I need to make a few minor changes to my current devices to add to my design, bringing HomeKit as an accepted platform to achieve with true that agnostic status (ps. matter cannot come soon enough!). I have two LiftMaster GDMs with built-in MyQ. I know that MyQ is not the most reliable ecosystem, but I have found that built-in GDOs are more reliable than the need for the typical Bridge and retro-adapted MyQ. That being said, natively, MyQ does not support HomeKit. I see two options; I can get HomeBridge from LiftMaster / Chamerblain and integrate that hub with HomeQit MyQ support. My fear is to know how temperamental MyQ is ... I'm afraid adding this integration will destroy all reliability with my native MyQ configuration. Does anyone have experience using MyB HomeBridge with a GDO that has built-in MyQ? The other option I see is the potential use of the Meross HomeKit compatible adapter, as many people enjoy it. My only "concern" here is that I'm not going back to the days of upgrading and wiring a third-party device with independent sensors and batteries. It seems a step backwards, given that I have everything built-in now, including the battery backup. I am open to suggestions and at the end of the day, I only care about having a reliable solution. Thank you!
