Home security system and HomeKit

Cupertino, December 31, 2023

After weeks of research, I came to a conclusion – I can get an inferior security system that works well with HomeKit, or I can get a really good security system and not worry about HomeKit integration anymore. Honestly, I'm pretty much convinced that a good system is a better option than one that works perfectly with HomeKit. I'm a techie and I don't mind linking to HomeKit whatever I choose, and I'm also fine just using the standalone security system without any HomeKit integration as long as I can get notifications on my iPhone about any breaches. All my outdoor cameras and doorbell are already in HomeKit and all I want to add are door sensors, motion detectors, an arming panel (if really needed) and a built-in indoor siren. This will be an unmonitored system... just to alert me. If anyone has been down the same rabbit hole I would appreciate any suggestions. I've already thoroughly researched all the hardware options, but maybe I've missed something. Abode and ecobee were contenders when I was trying to find a HomeKit compatible system, but both support systems are an awful step below. The ecobee system would be nice, but to get motion alerts they need a $7/month subscription. Thanks for any help! NOTE: I would get a SimpliSafe system, but their unmonitored plan will not send alerts of any kind, even through their iPhone app. This seems really stupid and defeats the purpose of a security system, but one of their support chat agents confirmed it.
