HomeKit automation slowly when the device status is updated

Cupertino, September 3, 2020

Hi all

I just installed some smart HomeKit certified sockets that added very well to the HomeKit. I can turn them on and off perfectly. I wanted to test the automation, so I set up a little test.

When the plug in the living room opens, I want the plug in the kitchen to light up. This works, I can hear them both starting almost instantly. The problem is in the application, the living room plug, which is the main trigger, is displayed as on, but the kitchen plug is still displayed as off. If I stop the application and reload it, it seems to force a refresh which then updates the status of the device.

I have them on a separate IoT network to which I have full access on the main LAN. It does the same thing when I drop on 4g. If I connect to the IoT network and run automation, it seems to update much faster.

Are you curious to know why it seems to slow down slowly?
