The HomeKit controller has become a useful tool as HomeKit usage increases. I have found that the backup tool is an integral part of making sure that I never find myself in a situation that I have to rebuild from scratch. A new feature added in version 5.4 aims to help identify, understand and solve the most common problems in HomeKit settings.
Discharged battery
Viewing the low battery in the HomeKit Controller gives you an overview of battery-powered HomeKit accessories. The application keeps track of battery levels and allows you if they become too low. You can set a threshold at which you can be alerted.
Manage Siri automations
With iOS 15, Siri can create automations for you in HomeKit in new ways. You can "Hey Siri, turn off the lights in the living room in 15 minutes." However, in situations where Siri does not understand correctly or you need to cancel the timer, the maintenance view in the HomeKit Controller shows you all the automations created by Siri in one place, so you can easily track them.
Various troubleshooting
Version 5.4 of the HomeKit Controller can also help you with a fairly large number of various HomeKit items. Included in the list for version 5.4:
- Accessories that do not respond
- Locked accessories
- Accessories in the default room
- Accessories without HomeKit code
- Duplicate serial numbers in devices
- Troubleshoot duplicate name
- Expired timers
- Inactive automations
- Automations with invalid configuration
- Empty scenes or exclusively at Apple
- Empty rooms and areas
The HomeKit driver can be downloaded from the App Store.
