HomeKit for Shelly 1 Mini?

Cupertino, March 22, 2024

I have an application that needs a dry contact relay (aka no potential) so a simple Shelly 1 seemed ideal and supposedly I can flash it to be HomeKit compatible - sounds like a winner. I tried to buy one - sold out at Amazon and Shelly by sometime in April according to someone at Shelly.com. Amazon has 1 Mini in stock and the 8 Amp rating is plenty so I bought one of those. The mini is on and working in native Shelly, but if I follow the mongoose instructions to reflash to HomeKit, the process starts, but then hangs and never completes. No error message, just "starting..." which never advances. I admit I optimistically assumed that the 1 Mini's firmware would be the same as a regular 1. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Do I have to wait for the regular Shelly 1 to come back in stock? Thanks!
