Homekit Forgetting Automations

Cupertino, October 5, 2021

I have a bunch of automations set up in HomeKit such that whenever a particular HomeKit device is turned on (or off), a corresponding "device" is likewise turned on (or off). I do this to create a kind of "bridge" over to my Indigo Domotics home control server, which doesn't have native visibility to some of the HomeKit devices. I have "virtual" devices created in Indigo that are visible to HomeKit and I want them to switch whenever their corresponding physical device switches.

This all works well, except ... HomeKit has this bad habit of forgetting what it is supposed to do when that HomeKit device changes state. The automations are still there, but some forget what corresponding device they are supposed to switch on or off.

I wonder what's causing this, and what's to be done. It might be because these "virtual" devices are sometimes missing, like when my home control server is being rebooted or something?

Thoughts?
