In the latest episode of HomeKit Insider, we review the features of Apple HomeKit that arrive in iOS 15 and tvOS 15, break down the new Sonos Beam and answer some questions sent by fans.

In the last week, the Tedee smart lock has gained support for the Apple HomeKit. This lock, currently unavailable in the US, has been updated by firmware to support HomeKit and will not require any new hardware.

Sonos has also introduced a new version of its popular Beam sound bar. Beam Gen. 2 includes support for Dolby Atmos, AirPlay 2 and NFC for quick setup, among other new features and improved sound.

On Monday, Apple is also set to launch iOS 15, tvOS 15 and a new update for the HomePod, which offers new features for HomeKit users. In the show, we discuss what features can be expected once updates are enabled.

Finally, before reaching the listener's questions, Andrew reviews the ReST smart mattress that can be automatically adjusted throughout the night based on your movements.

Tyler Waltz wrote to tell us about a great example, using HomeBridge, to make decorations or lighting fixtures work with HomeKit. He uses the Sonoff Wi-Fi switch to control things like the light on his stove that previously didn't work with HomeKit.

Derek Means wants to know why the Home app doesn't display more detailed accessory information, which is available through third-party HomeKit apps, such as camera orientation.

Ian recommended using cat6e cables when connecting a house, providing good resistance in the future, without being extremely expensive.

David wants to know any Thread-compatible HomeKit buttons he could use to control his smart home.
