Not new with IoT and automation, but new in Home Kit. My TV recently received updated firmware and HomeKit is enabled so I would like to see what can be done with my Apple TV 4K, TV and Marantz AVR. Apple TV is set to control AVR (on / off / volume). All OS are up to date.
I have a room in HK called Home Theater, which has the TV and Apple TV. The TV's power status (on | off) is displayed in the Home app, but the status of Apple TV does not, although I can see the model / serial number / os version in the Home app. I have a home pod in another room that can hear me from my media room and I have an Apple Watch. I would like to be able to use Siri to turn the equipment on and off via voice command.
If I ask Siri to turn the TV on or off, it works perfectly. If I ask Siri to turn the ATV on or off, it depends on which Apple device responds: if Home Pod responds, it says it can't find a device called "Apple TV" or "Home Theater" . If I ask my Apple Watch to turn the ATV on or off, it works and says "Home Theater is now on | turned off".
Ideally, I could have a single voice command that turns all equipment on and off. As it is now, I have to put my hand over the clock to talk to it and turn on the ATV, which is a little entertaining but less than ideal.
Are there any thoughts here?
