HomeKit Secure Router with accessories that require Ethernet

Cupertino, November 1, 2020

Hi!

I use an Eero as a wifi router and I like to have HomeKit Secure Router. However, Eero has a single backup ethernet port for connecting hubs to, such as the Philips Hue hub and the IKEA Trådfri hub.

I played with the idea of using Raspberry Pis as a means of connecting these hubs to the network - connecting Pis to wifi and then connecting the hubs to them via their Ethernet ports (or adding ports to Pi Zero Ws, maybe ).

Will this allow me to use the HomeKit Secure Router with these hubs or will putting this feature in front of them eliminate this capability?

The other, cheaper, less interesting option is to use an Ethernet network switch.
