HomeKit super flakey?

I have a mini HomePod that won’t set scenes. Siri just says “there was a problem with your request, please try again in a moment”. The HomePod is still in my network, I can control it remotely very well, I can play music on it, etc. Restarting it, electric cycling, etc. they didn’t help. And now, when I try to set scenes via my Siri phone, it asks for confirmation (for example, “set the scene good night?”). When I say yes, she says that scene doesn’t exist in my house. I can set it up manually via the home app. WTF is happening? Does anyone else see this in their configurations?
