Listener for a long time, poster for the first time. I struggled with Ubiquiti UniFi APs and HomeKit equipment for years (No answer, etc.) and did some testing and it seems that a recent launch of their AP firmware miraculously solved almost all my HomeKit problems. . I have three APs and one that is wirelessly connected to the main AP. All my HomeKit devices appear and show their status and respond promptly, including the Insignia garage door openers, Wemo Outlet switches, iDevices output switches and my iDevices thermostat.
If you have UniFi APs, I would suggest trying the 4.3.9 release candidate on your APs. We have not tested it on UniFi switches.
