As the title says, I will help set up a new smart home. I am aware that the 2 main front runners for smart connectivity between the house are Smartthings and Homekit. I know that HomeKit had a "lower" reputation than Smartthings (I'm not sure why not the best devices?). We also saw at WWDC that HomeKit is getting major upgrades in the near future. Currently, the only "smart" things they have are Samsung TV and a poppy. The house has nothing clever in it now it would start from scratch. The only thing I really like about Amazon / Smartthings is the integration with Alexa / google home. I help older people, so the ability to have voice integration and screens to see is nice.
I don't know if there is anything similar for Apple or if a similar device integrates with Homekit. I'm a tech-savvy person, but newer to the smart home world, so look for help or pointers or directions that tell you the best thing to do! Thank you for help.
