HomeKit wish list

Cupertino, July 16, 2019

I've been using Apple products for many years now, so when I switched to HomeKit, I expected it to be much better than what it was. There are some basic functionalities I think it should have, but not. Here's my list.

• Automations
Bedre A better organization of Automation List, filters to organize in different ways (by space, accessories, etc.). And someway that feels more intuitive than the massive list.
○ Ability to name automations
Uel Visual indication indicates that you have automations that conflict with each other.
○ Allow automation with multiple triggers. Example; All sensors to turn on the siren when no one is at home, we currently need to create an automation for each sensor.
○ Allow multiple conditions if x number of sensors are triggered (avoid avoided errors), only if the light is off, I think many of the conditions in the Eve app would be a good start.
○ Automation to light, selects after a certain time if nothing happens, switches off or returns to the previous state. E.g; I have an automation that if there is movement in the children's room, it will be the light next to the television for purple, and I would like it to go back to the previous property after a moment.
• Messages
○ Automations that can trigger a review. E.g; When a particular person arrives home or leaves sending message.
○ This could also be used with other things as if the temperature rises above 80, send a message, or if a door has been open for x time, send a message. Or, as mentioned above, a condition for this can be if a door / window is open and AC & # 39; is running, send me a message.
• Security system
○ There is a part of me that does not have to arm and disarm a security system, as it may be based on people being home or not. There are times, although I wish we could arm or disarm the system. For example, if we are not at home, but have a friend who comes over to our house to pick up something. I should be able to disarm security automations and messages so my siren alarm does not sound and my phone does not get rid of motion messages.
○ It would be nice to have a way to arm door and window sensors. So when we are in bed, the siren automation will be triggered if someone tries to open a door or window (I have a siren connected to a Wemo smart switch). I know I can do this with a time-automated automation, but I prefer a button I could arm and disarm the system as I don't want it going if I come home later than the time it is set.
• People
○ I want more control over people's settings. We have a nanny for our children, so if they are at home with the kids, I do not want to get any notifications of movement or our alarm triggered. This goes back to the above with being able to arm and disarm the messages with a single button or automation. I know I can add them to our home program, but I don't really want them to have access to all of our accessories like cameras and what not. I want there to be a guest user feature or more control over what they have access to when adding people. Or even time constraints. Currently I have them in the system without remote access, but it also allows them to get to the house when we are not at home and unlock our door or maybe at night sit outside the house and look at the camera. I don't think they will do this, but I am sure there are other times when you might have a contractor or a maid where you want them to be at home when you are not without interrupting messages or alarm siren.
○ I wish we could see who was at home. Currently there is no way to see who the system looks like at home and away.
○ From what I understand, you can only add people who have an iPhone. What if a family member doesn't have an iPhone? For example, an android user and toddlers, etc. Will my alarm automation trigger because it does not know anyone is at home who is expected to be there. My old system Lowes Iris had commutes that we had on our kids backpacks so we could tell when they were home or not. Maybe this could be used for children.
• History
○ It's great to have a story where you can look back to see what's going on in your home. You should be able to filter out for different types of things such as motion, thermostat, automation triggered. I know some apps have this, but having everything in one place would be nice. This would come in very handy for my front porch motion sensor to see a story of when people came home or supplies etc.
• Home screen
○ It feels so messy with all apps. I like to favor most of my accessories so I can see a full snapshot of my home, but it ends up being a ton of buttons. I think this could be organized more visually and easier to understand. I would love to see some lights and color indicators for my lights similar to the Hue app, so I can not only tell a light is on, but also what color. I think the icons are not enough and feel that it could be organized based on light, locks or user control over how to organize or filter everything. You already have the space tab, so if you wanted to look for room, you can. I also don't like my scene being off the page and having to be rolled to see everything.
○ It may also be cool to have a visual representation of your home, as a floor plan. You can move your accessories in the right places so it's an easier and visual way to see and control you at home on the app.
• Scenes
○ I'd like to have scenes inside scenes. Some of my scenes are set via the Hue app for light scenes, so it's nice to have a scene that could do many different things like locking the door, turning off some lights, putting the lights in another room into a scene, I already have, and so on. At the moment I can't do this.
