Homekit with Home Assistant.

Cupertino, October 4, 2021

I primarily use HomeKit for managing my smart home devices , but have implemented a home assistant raspberry pi to handle the devices that HomeKit can’t.

When I add the HA to my Home app, it doubles any devices that I have setup on both systems. Is everyone just adding things such as Hue Lighting to HA and then adding HA to HomeKit to avoid this?

I can see benefits to having the devices available to both systems but don’t want to complicate my Apple ecosystem either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am moving soon and want to rethink all of my smart home stuff so that it works as effectively as possible.
