HomeKit Works, then all of a sudden it stopped

Cupertino, April 14, 2024

Hi all,

I do not know what happened. I was having issues with my HomeKit and it turned out to be my OG HomePod. I removed it and everything started working again, then a few weeks ago everything stopped. Nothing but update or no response errors. The hub is an Apple TV in the living room. I've tried restarting the hub, resetting all the lights and adding them back (didn't add them all back this time), removing items, restarting wifi, everything and still nothing). Other people seem to rave about how great HomeKit is and even use it for security, but for whatever reason, my system absolutely hates me. It's so unreliable and neither I nor any of the countless YouTubers can fix the problem or provide any guidance as to what's going wrong. Honestly, it's embarrassing and now I use a Luccid light just to have light in the house.

My main reason for wanting a setup like this is that I have a chronic migraine and need to be able to dim the lights. My internet is a 1Gb plan and my Apple TV is wired (I tested it and got 944Mb the other day). Most of the lights are in a large room and the wi-fi signal is not a problem. I have absolutely no idea why this happens and I don't know how to fix it (though sometimes I wanted to burn everything to the ground).

“Has anyone got any suggestions on how to fix the update/no response issue AND how I can make the system reliable (I was going to say more reliable, but it's just not reliable at all!).

Many thanks in advance.
