I have two Homepods in stereo pair that have historically worked great in Theater mode with my Apple TV. A function I really enjoyed was that when I only played music, it was playing through the Apple TV/HomePod pairing but never turned my Apple TV on.
Recently I’ve made it two changes.
1. moved to a new house and upgraded from a single AT&T Gateway to the Eero 6 Pro and
2. Upgraded my apps to v15.
Since then, I have to open my Apple TV up to stream music via HomePod/Apple TB theater. If I don’t, when I hit the play button from my phone it shows pause, stalls for second and then back to play, not audio. I then have to restart my Music App on my Apple TV. Once I do that it works fine until a pause for a while and then whole process starts again.
