HomePod messes up the home kit

Cupertino, September 15, 2023

For quite some time, I've had a great experience with HomeKit. Basically everything worked, then recently everything went south. The bell is online and offline several times a day. All Hue bulbs become collectively inaccessible, accessible, inaccessible again. And, things are just... Short as hell. Then I realized that this terrible weakness basically happened when I added a HomePod mini to the household. So during a collective meltdown last week, I thought "hey, let's try to turn off the HomePod." And, oh, I did this thing. The ringer came back online almost instantly. All in 30 seconds, same as all other devices. Since then I've kept it off and had 0 problems for a few days, I've tried backing up the pod from home. And boom, within hours. The offline/online dance has begun. So, I turned it off again, everything was nice and good again, and it's been that way ever since (as I kept the damn HomePod off). Now before I sell the thing. Is there any way to approach this? It feels like it's tied to HomeHub. It never happens when the Apple TV is in use. So I'm kind of guessing that after the ATV has been idle for a while, the HomePod somehow promotes itself to the Home Hub and apparently messes everything up.
