I went to see if anyone else had this problem. I am currently on the second HomePod mini, the first one I tried to configure did not go beyond the "setting" side (waited up to 40 minutes). After talking to Apple support, he told me it must be defective and recommended that I send it back. After doing this, I immediately ordered a second one that arrived today and guess what, the same problem. I would go through the setup screen, scan the top with the camera, press all the prompts and get stuck when "configuring" my iPad / iPhone are up to date. Music / keychain / home app are enabled / installed. And I forgot my wifi on both, reset network settings and reset HomePod mini. I'm waiting to get answers from Apple tomorrow, but are you wondering if anyone else has taken care of that? I'm sorry for the long revelation, just super frustrated by this situation. TLDR: on the second HomePod mini that will not pass the "configuration" pop-up.
