HomePod Mini Outdoor Deck Security for HomeKit

Cupertino, June 14, 2021

I recently received another HomePod mini for the outdoor covered deck area. Great accessory to have and mount on the ceiling. I can obviously use it for music, but I can easily control the homekit accessories on the deck - fan / can lights / fan light / etc. However, I realized that this easily allows someone access to everything "hey Siri unlock xxx door" I thought I could change Siri's name to make this a little harder, but learned, I can't - It must have been a jailbreak I saw before. I guess I could remove any extremely risky accessories from the homekit, but this type defeats the purpose of having them. I see in the HomePod settings that I can eliminate listening for "hey Siri" and tapping for Siri options - but again that defeats the purpose of why I wanted that there. Is there anything to automate these settings anyway - turn them off at night and whenever we're not home? Are there other options or settings that I haven't listed to solve or help alleviate this issue? Thank you!
