HomePod Mini - Personal Requests

Cupertino, March 6, 2021

I just added my first HomePod Mini to my home setup. I'm slowly moving away from the Google Mini and Hubs, in favor of Apple Home Pods and HomeKit devices, largely because I use all Apple devices and love the seamless, smooth integration it offers. However, the more I used the HomePod mini, the more I wonder if I'm doing something wrong when I ask for personal requests or if Apple just hasn't completely thought about this process. For example, when I ask Siri what my day looks like or what my next reminder is and my phone is across the room, she always asks me to log in to my phone. Okay, but what's the point of asking these questions on the HomePod if I still have to go through the camera to log in? I mean, the reason I'm asking for my HomePod is because I don't have to pick up my phone. What is the experience of everyone else with HomePod and personal requests? Am I doing something wrong?
