Honeywell Lyric T5 thermostat vs multiple hubs

Cupertino, July 12, 2021

I have had a Honeywell Lyric T5 thermostat for about 4 years. Initially it worked great with both their native app and Home (and, by extension, Siri). I started with an iPad that acts as a home hub, I finally got a HomePod and the thermostat started to appear quite frequently as "No Answer". After getting a second HomePod, I found that overall things were more reliable if I set the iPad not to act as a home hub, and with a pair of HomePods, things worked great, except for the thermostat. . More recently, I have discovered that if I turn off all hubs except one potential, the thermostat is completely reliable. But as soon as I have more than one hub, it will be in the Unanswered state for a decent amount of time. Restarting the thermostat causes it to reconnect and will come and go at random on its own. The native app works all the time, so I don't think the problem is with wifi. I have seen a few other mentions online that suggest that the problem is that there are more hubs. I see no way to control which device acts as a hub or any other controls that seem relevant. I tried to remove it from home, to completely reset the thermostat from scratch, I reconnected it (several times over a period of months, for various reasons). Does anyone have any suggestions?
