I set up an automation to run when everyone leaves the house (turn off the lights, arm alarm, close the garage, etc.) based on a dummy switch that lights up “when the last person leaves” (had to use the dummy switch to put the gun alarm to work). This is related to my and my wife’s iPhones. But I wish I could turn this off when, for example, my illegals are in town with our children while we go out for a while. So I set up another dummy switch called Guests and tried a shortcut where if “Guests” was off, run automation off (turn on dummy switch off), otherwise do nothing (so if I enabled “Guests” theoretically would be disabled). However, this seemed to break the automation altogether (as in the “Away” switch it was not triggered when I left). Does anyone know the right way to do this?
How to configure a dummy switch shortcut to disable automations
