How to manage HomeKit-enabled routers in the Home app

How to manage HomeKit compatible routers on iOS and iPadOS

  1. Launch The home app.
  2. Press The home on the navigation bar if you are not already there.
  3. Touch the button House icon near the top left corner.

  4. Scroll down and touch Wi-Fi network and routers.
  5. Touch your router to see more information, such as its serial number.
  6. Turn on or off Security for HomeKit accessories for your home as you wish.
  7. Touch the button Accessory where you want to set restrictions.

    • Collapse at home: Allow only connections to the home center. This can block firmware updates or other services.
    • Automatic: Allow connections to an automatically updated list of manufacturer-approved Internet services and local devices.
    • Without restrictions: Allow connections to any internet service or local device. This offers the lowest level of security.

    Browse and tap Wi-Fi networks and routes, touch the router name for more information, switch homeKit accessory security on or off, tap the accessory name to manage restrictions

  1. Launch The home app.

  3. Click Edit Home.

Now that your desired security level has been set, you can easily breathe knowing that your HomeKit accessories are safe and protect from outside threats. Just keep in mind that if you choose to block Internet access entirely, it could prevent future firmware updates, which could be seen as good or bad!
