How to share Apple TV with family

Cupertino, November 17, 2021

You can share your Apple TV with multiple family members so that everyone has their own personalized entertainment options and accounts for the Apple TV app, Apple Music, and the App Store. You and your family can move between account profiles to create personalized viewing experiences after adding family members to Apple TV.

Add a family member to Apple TV

  • On the Apple TV, go to the Settings menu.
  • Add a new Apple ID by going to Users and Accounts> Add a new user.

Add a family member to your Apple TV using the Home app

On an iOS, iPadOS, or macOS device (running Catalina or later), you can also add people to your Apple TV using the Home app. The Home app allows you to add multiple users at once and customize their access to your device. For example, you can set up an Apple TV with a child account in the children's room and another Apple TV in the living room with both adult and children's accounts.

  • Make sure the Apple TV is connected to a network camera controlled by the Home application.
  • If you didn't choose a camera for Apple TV when you first set it up, go to Settings> Apple TV> AirPlay and HomeKit> Camera, then select one.
  • On your iOS, iPadOS, or macOS device, open the Home app.
  • In the upper left corner of the screen, tap Home settings.
  • Tap Invite, then tap Send invitation after entering your Apple ID email address.
  • Tell the guest to access the iOS, iPadOS, or macOS Home app and do the following:
  • Accept the offer.
  • Then tap the app name in the Home app settings.
  • Turn on one or more Apple TVs, then tap Show me on Apple TV.

The Apple TV is a $ 69 black plastic box the size of a hand that connects to the TV via an HDMI connection. It then connects to your home wireless network, bringing internet videos to your TV for the first time. Comes with a three-button remote control.

There are fewer reasons to purchase an Apple TV streaming tape in 2021. This is because Apple has teamed up with a number of major TV manufacturers, including LG, Sony, Vizio and Samsung, to include many of the Apple TV's best features, such as HomeKit, AirPlay 2 and even iTunes, in their TVs. The reason for this is simple: Apple wants as many people as possible to use Apple TV +.
