How to "upgrade" a Doorking system from an old school

Cupertino, September 15, 2020

Hi!

I bought a house that has one of the panels from the old Door King (DKS) school. The bell rings on a corded phone in my house (eww) and has a keypad with a code to unlock the gate. When my phone rings, I can also unlock the gate by pressing 9.

This is not a gate like a garage door or other RF controlled door opener. It's just a magnetic lock that will unlock when I press 9 on my phone, or the guest enters the correct code. The gate locks itself once the door is closed.

I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on how to update this to be compatible with Homekit. I was watching a video ringtone (maybe the next Netatmo), but that doesn't solve the whole problem. I would also like to unlock the remote gate on my phone when someone rings and, in a perfect world, give certain people access to the gate, either through the keyboard or by phone.

I'm not sure there is such a thing, but curious if anyone here has encountered such a problem?
