I can't control multiple lights independently with Siri

Cupertino, January 24, 2024

I have a room with two Homekit controlled lights in it; let's call it "Camera X". The X Room has both a fan light and a floor lamp that I can control independently through the home app, but I can't get Siri to control them independently. I have a Homepod mini in the same room and if I say "Hey Siri, turn on the lights" or "turn the lights to 10%" it controls both lights as expected. However, if I try to "turn on the floor lamp" it also controls both lights. If I say "turn on the fan light" she responds with "sorry I can't handle combined requests". Currently the two accessories are named "X Room Fan Light" and "X Room Floor Lamp". I've tried renaming them to something more distinct (eg fan light -> overhead light) but any expression with the word "light" or "lamp" seems to control everything no matter what I try. Any tips for getting Siri to control them independently?
