I know that HomeKit is not as good as it could be, but not every question is on Apple's end.

Cupertino, November 11, 2019

For a while, I've had a problem with a HomeKit scene that allows for myself once my wife or I have opened the Apple Home app. It would not be every time, but was very frequent. Sometimes right away, other times with a delay of up to a minute. It happened on multiple devices (two iPhones and one iPad). This was so far on every release of iOS 12 and 13 and got me crazy about finding bugs.

I sent to this subhomekit.blog not too long ago to advise and got a Redditor with suggestions for possible fixes (which I appreciated). I didn't expect much help because I haven't seen anyone else with this issue after searching and turning on for some time. Redditor asks if I had any automations with the scene enabled, which I did not, and provided recommendations for hub restarts.

I figured I would just delete the scene and see if it would end my problem. I deleted the bedtime scene and had an Eve button with this scene as the long press act. So I added my good night scene to that button press. I work with turns so my bedtime and good night scenes are different. After I did that when I opened the Home app, the goodnight scene would automatically set. At least now I had something to shoot. I deleted the long press action from the Eve button and haven't had the problem happen in over a week.

Today I just removed the Eve button from my devices and decided this was the culprit. Hopefully it was.
