I owned Eve Cam, here are my first impressions!

Cupertino, July 10, 2020

Hi all !

I received my Eve Cam 4 days ago and I wanted to share my impressions with you:

its installation was easy. The camera is mounted on a stand that can be installed vertically on a flat surface. You can rotate the camera on itself to adjust where it needs to be oriented, and you can move the stick between the stand and the camera to go up and down. If you want to mount it on a wall, a metal ring comes with a 3M double-sided sticker, if you want to stick it to a wall or you can screw it to the wall inside the small hole in the metal ring.
I was with the sticker, it sticks well! : D

The support is magnetic and attaches (strongly so carefully to the fingers: p) on the metal ring, did not try on other metal surfaces (maybe my refrigerator?)

The room is really light and not as big as I thought, it is quite discreet on a wall.

Speaking of discretion, the recording light can be turned off in the HKSV options. The only light you will see will be the two small dots in the infrared when the camera goes into night mode.

Using the eve app to set up my scenes for HomeKit, I just had to click the "add" button, scan the QR code and ... VOILA! You are ready to watch your cats doing nothing all day on your couch!

It had 2 firmware updates (5 minutes each) proposed by the Eve application, they installed it, it quickly restarts the hardware and it was updated.

So the best part: I think it's a good camera ?!

Short answer: yes

Long answer: coming from netatmo welcome, it's kind of a huge update.

The viewing angle is really wider (the fish eye effect is one of the edge of the image, but I didn't intend to make a movie with my living room; p) and I can finally see the whole living room with a camera.

Reactivity in HomeKit is faster: when I wanted to watch the live stream, it sometimes took 5 to 10 seconds to display it. With Eve it takes about 2 to 5 seconds.

The sound recording is good, you can clearly hear the sounds and conversations in the room, the only "disadvantage" is when you turn the volume on your iPhone to maximum, you hear some white noise, but it really is not as average. the level does not let you hear and you can clearly hear everything in the room.

The internal speaker is good, but not very loud, so it tends to make terrible noises when you speak loudly on the phone.

The night mode is excellent, I can clearly see the end of my room (about 6m) without too much noise on the image.

The only problem I got, but it was solved by a restart of the camera was when HKSV recorded something, the video plays at a speed of 2X as in the old black and white movies. There have been no problems since then.

Since the camera is only for HomeKit, I look forward to Apple OS 14 having all the new features, because in fact, you can't record all your movements without having a notification for each IT'S A GREAT POOR! : /

I think I said everything I can think of. If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them.

Forgive my English, as it is not my native tong and, if there are some strange words, you can thank me for the automatic correction of my iPhone! : D
