Ideas for making a smart, traditional, cameraless intercom smart?

Cupertino, January 1, 2022

I have a traditional intercom that I use to receive guests and deliverers. The intercom has no screen, only the button to open the main door of the building and a receiver to ask who it is. I'm exploring options to automate this, but I don't want to sacrifice the question of who it is because, although I generally know who I'm waiting for, I sometimes have no idea who's ringing the doorbell. In my specific case, living in an apartment building, the mailbox is inside the building, so Amazon postmen and couriers must be received inside to throw away anything they ordered. Like I said, sometimes you know who you're expecting, but sometimes you don't know, so sacrificing the receiver would make the whole project useless. Although I read that I can automate the opening device with a Shelly 1, I have no idea how I can see / know who is at the door without physically getting up and picking up the receiver to ask. I should also point out that the installation of a doorbell in my case is not feasible because, as I said, I live in an apartment building and this is not allowed, but also my connection radius. Wi-Fi is not strong enough to reliably reach the bottom. of the stairs. How would you handle my situation? Thanks for the suggestions and Happy Birthday.
