Instar IP Cameras are supported by HomeKit - Homekit News and Reviews

Cupertino, December 27, 2021

As first reported by Yann At SmartApfel.de, it appears that Instar, the German security camera manufacturer, has finally added HomeKit support for their IP cameras through a firmware update. This firmware update allows their indoor and outdoor cameras, as part of the FullHD series, to be integrated into your home HomeKit via the company's web user interface, which, once you sign in to your account, generates a QR code HomeKit, which then allows the camera to be automatically exposed to HomeKit.

Despite the relatively expensive price for all their rooms, one thing that may interest some users is that their indoor and outdoor rooms offer either WiFi or LAN connectivity. Even more interesting is that it also offers versions for IN-9008 and IN-9020 with PoE (Power over Ethernet).

The only downside to this HomeKit update is that because the company has its own paid cloud-based storage plan, none of its cameras are currently compatible with HomeKit Secure Video. In-Star also offers a few accessories, some of which you don't tend to see on lower priced cameras, such as interchangeable lenses, WiFi antennas, projectors, and more.

In-Star products are available directly from the company's own website or through the company's Amazon.de store.
