iOS 14 Leak Details New HomeKit features for lights and cameras

Cupertino, March 12, 2020

This week there have been a lot of leaks from iOS 14 and 9to5Mac shared several emails about what's coming, especially new features for Apple's HomeKit.

Zac Hall writes, "New in iOS 14 for HomeKit will be able to automatically adjust the light color temperature throughout the day." This feature would be essentially similar to the HomeKit Night Shift, but for the lights, adjust the color temperatures of your bulbs as the day progresses into the evening, aiding the body's circadian rhythms.

For cameras that support HomeKit, iOS 14 will bring a "new face classification feature" that will identify people. This could allow more detailed notifications when the move is detected and mentions, for example, a family member.

As for tvOS 14 and Apple TV, the iOS 14 code describes a "new permanent audio output option", which means that users can choose a new AirPlay 2 audio output by default, instead of having to go to settings and select it every time.

Apple is expected to share new versions of its software at WWDC this summer, but with coronavirus outbreaks closing major conferences, it doesn't look like the annual developer conference will happen.
