Is adaptive lighting set according to the time of day or brightness?

Cupertino, February 11, 2021

I have nanoleaf bulbs that have recently had an upgrade for adaptive lighting. I theoretically like the nanoleaf circadian lighting in their app, whether it's set to automatic or manually setting the time to change the color, it does, but there are issues with the app saving the settings. With adaptive lighting, the homekit doesn't seem to have daytime settings to adjust, from what I've seen anyway. Regardless of the time of day, with the lights 100% on, they are bright white. When I dim them, THEN the color changes to a warmer temperature. This is not really "smart" IMO, I would prefer to automatically adjust the color temperature as needed ... "adjust" if you want. Instead, he seems to be entirely dependent on me, believing that he is too bright in the room and manually reduces the brightness. Am I wrong and something is wrong?
