ISmartgate Pro and reed switches

Cupertino, November 9, 2020

Hi all,

I currently have three garage doors that have existing reed switches used for my alarm. I looked at iSmartgate Pro to add garage doors to HomeKit, rather than using the existing configuration where garage doors are connected to my alarm for remote opening and closing (iSmartgate will give me better integration with HomeKit and the ability to see the status of the doors). My question is: is it possible to "touch" existing reed switches and connect them to iSmartgate Pro instead of buying and using battery sensors? Does it make sense, given that the reed cables and switches are already there? And I know you can connect iSmartgate wired reed switches to iSmartgate pro.

I'm just curious if anyone did this or if it can cause alarm problems with these reed switches?

Thank you in advance
