LIFX tiles are trash, don't buy them

Cupertino, September 8, 2019

I initially got the Nanoleaf canvas, but swapped them for LIFX Tile when I saw that they were also for sale, and the 64 LED zones per. Panel intrigued me.

This is without doubt beautiful panels, especially when turned on. They are also bright.

But the problem is that it doesn't have brains like Nanoleaf accessories. It's all powered by your phone and app. It's the equivalent of using third-party apps for flashy light animations and effects for Philips Hue.

Frankly, it's pretty pathetic to find that it has 3 independent features: Solid Color, Morph Animation and Fireplace.

As I said, all these effects and animations need to be triggered in the LIFX app and require the phone to be turned on to use it. Which is not practical! And if you are like me throwing all their HomeKit apps into an old phone and relying solely on the Home app to work, this product is useless.

You can't set these animations for scenes like Nanoleaf. Motion sensors and light switches cannot return to the last animation mode because they are powered by your phone.

You can't even save the built-in animations running independently of LIFX Tile like HomeKit scenes, so you have to rely on LIFX's app. Or you can just bop your tile.

LIFX Tile is trash, so many connectivity issues along with HomeKit issues.

If all LIFX & # 39; s products rely solely on the phone and the app, all of their products are trash. I guess that's how their Z Light Strips work for wild animations as well.

Of course, if you like rainbow box and fireplace, then I hope you enjoy this product. Otherwise, this thing is just a one-off show-off thing.

By no means do I go to my phone, then find the app, then go down through submenus to select the & # 39; effect & # 39; tab, then select an effect, go to the & # 39; creation & # 39; tab, then select a theme just to have an animation to run and make use of the 64 LED zones.

I'd rather have HomeKit capabilities and get remote controls and sensors to trigger and activate various effects along with my voice.

But the tiles don't even have the brains to independently run more than 2 animations.

I only need to rely on a home app.
