I’ve seen several posts about automating motion sensor-based lights and transforming them when there’s no motion for X, but I’m trying to take it a step further.
My test setup is a 1-light smart hallway motion sensor. And I have 3 fictitious switches, one for different parts of the day: day, evening and night. They turn on and off in different parts of the day so that there is only 1 on.
This makes it a central control used by every room with motion sensors, offers great flexibility by being able to automate fictitious switches based on sunset, sunrise and bedtime. It also reduced automation by 3 ‘when the motion detector’ in 1.
When motion is detected, it is checked which of the dummy switches are activated and then decided which scene to use.
If the day switch is activated: set the day scene
And then again for each dummy switch.
The problem is that when motion is detected, sometimes it does not turn on the light and other times the wrong scene.
I restarted everything, but it never works perfectly.
Am I doing something wrong or is there an error in this idea?
