Lighting solutions matter vs Hue Bridge

Cupertino, March 13, 2024

I'm just starting to shop for my smart home light solution. I have Homebridge, Hue Bridge and some colored Hue bulbs. I need to buy some dimmers and remote switches that can be turned off by automations (and manually). I've seen that it looks like matter protocol is the future, but I've also read that my shade bridge can only handle one protocol, either native shade protocol or matter protocol. My question is, can I mix and match protocols with HomeKit? I understand that I may have switches and dimmers that are problems and others that are not. Is there any reason to stay away from the protocol at this point?
