Linkind RGBTW bulbs do not turn off properly

Cupertino, January 27, 2024

I just purchased a dozen Linkind Wi-Fi Smart Matter bulbs (A19 RGBTW). They are on sale and it was hard to resist at $5.50 per bulb. They paired with HomeKit quickly and seamlessly. I mostly turn them on and off using HomeKit scenes activated by programmable buttons (Wemo Stage). I also have Apple shortcuts set up on my phone to turn them on and off. They seemed to work fine for a week, but now they are behaving quite strangely. They start very well. Any color, brightness, temperature. All good. But when I turn them off, they will randomly go to 2% brightness. Five of the bulbs are in one body, so I grouped them in HomeKit. I hit the "off" button, and some will go off, but one or two will fade. I press it again, and a different one might stay dimmed (and sometimes in a color I wasn't using). I can't discern a pattern. It always seems to be different bulbs. I tried using a shortcut to turn off all 12 at once and turn individual bulbs on and off. Sometimes it goes off, sometimes it goes to 2% (it's always 2%, no other value). I double checked that there are no automations messing with them. I tried disabling them manually in the Home app and it works fine. Only in cutscenes and cutscenes does this issue happen. I went to device settings (hmmm - the manufacturer looks like Leedarson, not Linkind) and the firmware is 1.0. There is no option to check for firmware updates. Anyone have any ideas? I've been messing with this for a few hours now and it's driving me crazy.
