Logitech Circle View - Will Not Record on Homekit Secure Video

Cupertino, June 3, 2021

Hello everyone, I've been pulling my hair out of this for months and I hope someone here may have seen the same thing or have an idea of something I can try. Essentially, I have a Circle View camera added to my homekit setup that won't record to the homekit secure video, except in one specific case. & # x200B; I have a fairly simple homekit setup, which includes 2 Apple TVs and a few sensors, sockets, etc. I also have an iPad, an iPhone, all the other things that families have around them. One of my Apple TVs is set as the homehub and this is where the weirdness begins. I initially bought an EUFY 2K camera and, although it was added to the fine homekit and managed to stream video without any problems, it would never record anything on HSV. After a few days, I decided that EUFY is not that great, I took it back and received Circle View - I set it up without any problems, but I see exactly the same problem. I can stream videos both on my network and externally without any problems, but they won't record. In one case, though - if I set my iPad as homehub, the camera will start recording instantly on HSV. I can review, scroll through everything, as expected. As soon as I turn off my iPad and set Apple TV back to homehub, the ability to record stops again immediately. I initially tried to talk to EUFY and I didn't get very far. I tried to talk to Logitech and I didn't get anywhere. I opened a ticket with Apple in February and they came back 5 times now effectively saying "it's not our problem, you need to talk to the manufacturer" - even when I point out that I see exactly the same behavior at multiple manufacturers and devices and that this works with the iPad and not the ATV. Do we really hope that someone here can have a clue ...? I have the recording options set to "transmit and allow recording", as far as I realize that anything else is set up or set to work - obviously, yes, because using the iPad as a hub allows recording. Both iPad and Apple TV appear on the latest version of iOS / TVOS. Nothing else changes - no restarts of the camera, wifi network, router, etc. to "connected" and recording no longer works - although streaming is fine on both. Obviously, leaving an iPad on and home 24/7 for this to work is not a viable solution, so we would love to hear any suggestions. Good luck
