Logitech Doorbell - Successful installation in the UK WITHOUT HUMAN, NO EXISTING SOUND tips!

Cupertino, January 30, 2021

Hey! I live in the UK, I bought and delivered the Logitech bell to my house, because I couldn't wait anymore haha. I want to share my installation journey with all the products I used to get it up and running. I didn't have a previous bell, so I didn't install a bell or a switch. I didn't want a separate ringtone because HomePods can do that. I've seen the following comments on whether or not the sound kit that comes in the Logitech ringtone is needed. Q1) Some comments suggest without the sound kit, the ringtone will not work. A1) I did not find this to be true. The set of bells is not in my circuit, and the bell works perfectly. It didn't cut or anything. Q2) Some comments suggest that it acts as a protection for your device, such as a resistor and / or switch or something similar. A2) This could be true. I can't find any information on this. So, to be safe, I chose to install an RCBO with a limit of 6 AMP. This should protect the bell from blowing as much as anything else could. Q3) Some comments suggest without the ringer kit, your transformer makes a louder noise and that it touches very loudly. A3) The transformer does not make any sound, with or without the sound kit. It is slightly warm, no worries. Here are the products we used, in order, from the electrical box to the bell. https://www.screwfix.com/p/wylex-6a-30ma-sp-type-b-rcbo/35586 If you are not an electrician; this is the hardest. Find out how to install one of these and make sure you are careful. I had a family member install this for me, so I can't be of much help here, sorry. Then https://www.screwfix.com/p/prysmian-6242y-grey-1-5mm-twin-earth-cable-25m-coil/65696?_requestid=350 Connect this to RCBO. Then https://www.screwfix.com/p/british-general-8-24v-8va-bell-transformer-module/8707p Take the cable and connect it to the bottom of the transformer. I put the neutral wire (blue) in the hole on the right, the live wire (brown) in the hole on the left. It's not marked, so I don't think it matters anyway. The ground wire (green and yellow) does not enter any holes. Just cut it. Then https://www.screwfix.com/p/time-black-red-24-strand-speaker-cable-25m-coil/483jy?_requestid=769 Split the cables, put them on top of the transformer. One of them in 0V and the other in 24V. It doesn't matter which way I go. Then the Bell! Connect the black and red wires to the back of the bell, pushing them through the small holes behind it. Again, it doesn't matter which hole you go into. I hope this helps you. If anyone knows anything better, let me change my post if anything I've suggested is a danger to anyone who wants to follow these instructions. Thanks!
