Lutron dimmer box

Cupertino, December 31, 2023

I connected the Luton Caseta switch upstairs and downstairs is still the old standard switch. It's a three way switch and whenever I turn on the regular downstairs switch it either turns the lights on and then immediately goes off, or if the upstairs dimmer switch has the lights on when I turn the downstairs regular switch off, the lights go out. they stop for a second and then come right back. Please see the attached image of how I wired the Lutron Caseta Dimmer Switch. Is it the red wire, which should be alone connected to a black wire, or together with the black wire coming out of the wall? And could that be the problem?
