In the weekly iPhone 13 launch episode of a HomeKit Insider, your hosts talk about new software updates for the HomePod, Find my capabilities in Apple's MagSafe wallet, and answer your listener's questions.

Last week, Aqara announced the availability of its HomeKit-compatible smart roller adapter, which allows users to control shades with a bead or chain on Apple's smart platform.

We also talked about the first beta version of iOS 15.1 that reactivated the lossless sound for HomePod and HomePod mini.

Our new Apple MagSafe wallet has arrived, which can now work with Find My. When removed for more than a minute, the last known location will be tagged in the Find Me app.

Listener's questions

Several listeners wrote anecdotes and questions this week.

Angel asked us if we think Apple has become obsolete in the smart home space, as Google and Amazon produce tons of their own hardware, including routers, speakers, displays, and more.

Ray wondered how he could force his smart home accessories to join the 2.4 GHz network, rather than his 5 GHz network during setup.
