Meross Garage Door Opener "Accessory"

Cupertino, January 9, 2024

Hi everyone, I was gifted a Meross garage door opener for the holidays. During installation I found out that since I have a newer Liftmaster with a yellow program button, I need to get the "Accessory". Cool, not great. The app directed me to the submission page and I filled in everything except the purchase number as there is no gift date. Merros support replies that I either have to get my older mother-in-law to give me her Amazon purchase number or I can buy the "accessory" for $10. I replied stating that I would not be receiving the purchase number and if I could make an exception as it was a gift. Impasse. They explain what the "accessory" is. Hardware is required for the device to work with my specific model Liftmaster. They then told me they have a compatibility sheet that I can check compatibility with before purchasing. They also said they could solder the wires to the garage door plate. If I'm not interested in it, it would void the garage door warranty. I'm thinking it should be so hard to say the "Accessory" required (is it really hardware required for their product to work as designed)? If I know that some of the larger garage door manufacturers will require this hardware, then include it in the item they are purchasing. I just purchased the "accessory" but I think it should be either an included item or an auto-fulfillment request. Also, I might have hoped for a better experience as I just deleted my MyQ account and was excited about a company I could invest more in, but this gave me reservations.
