Meross HomeKit plug will not connect ...

Cupertino, September 23, 2020

So I just got a few MeRoss sockets (UK), but for the rest of my life I can't get the bloody stuff to connect to the HomeKit - I just can't add an accessory. An unknown error occurred. "I was able to connect one to the MeRoss app shortly (I couldn't repeat it), but even that was a joke, because the app itself needs you to connect to the WiFi jacks, but when you do this, it only appears saying “add to your home network.” It didn't seem to need any firmware updates while connected to the MeRoss app.

Definitely on 2.4 ghz WiFi, I tried my iPhone and iPad on iOS / iPadOS 14, both have the same problem.

Has anyone had a similar problem / received ideas?
