Meross MSS120 Plug will not work without internet connection, cannot block with HomeKit Secure Router

Cupertino, January 31, 2021

I bought a pack of 2 of the Meross dual sockets. It works well enough and released another 2 points for which I have other plans. Honestly, a pack of 2 dual homekit plugs for under $ 30 was too good to refuse. It is also too good to work properly. If I try to set the connection to "Restricted" in the HomeKit router settings, it starts flashing red and stops responding to HomeKit. I tried both 1 which was fully configured and added to the Meross application, and 1 which was configured only through the HomeKit, without the Meross application. This should not have passed the HomeKit certification. It should work fine without an internet connection. I don't know meross and why should I trust them with an internet connection when I have the option to block it? I'm debating their return just for that. It's sad because they fit a specific need, but the main point of the HomeKit Secure Router is the IoT-related security options. Edit: I turned out to be overzealous. After I restarted my Eero network, I was able to control them while "Restricted". However, they still flash in red and I decided to return them depending on where they would be used. I really don't want to turn on the red lights in a different black room. The Satechi version arrived today and works well too. It does not flash when set to Restricted.
